“The first obligation of the writer is to be interesting. To be interesting; not to change the world.”

I'm doing it again.  This time there is no pressure.  I just want to write everyday, even if I don't reach the daily goal, the fact that I will be writing everyday is a good sign.

It has been hard to write since I began working last February (hard to believe it has been that long).  This month I want to set better habits and write more often.

I will try to update you on my progress as I go along.  No promises, though.  I would rather spend more time on my actual novel than on a blog.  But I will try and check in, even if it is just with a number.

Alright...that being said, I need to get writing.

"Along the Pipelines" - by Me

Still working on this novel...Trying to find it's ending has been tough.  Think I finally have one in mind.  Sometimes writing is more about the thinking than the actual writing.  I have been mulling it over in my head for weeks now with no good results.  Suddenly my brain hit on something and "Ta-da" - Light bulb moment!

Anyway, I will keep you updated on my novel and when it is finished.

I will be at the conference all weekend long.  Excited.  Nervous.  Trying to get as much out of it as possible.  That's the key.

I will blog about my adventures when I get back.  Today I am taking the day to write!

Today I signed up for two things:

1) When Words Collide Conference
2) Nanowrimo (National Novel Writing Month) which happens in November

These are some first steps into my writing career (if I can be so bold as to call it that)!  I have been working on some stories, too.  The first is a children's story.  The second is a novel that I have been dabbling with for the last few years.

While on a trip to the historical village, I was struck by another story idea.  This new idea will need much research and time if I want to get it right.

For now I will just focus my efforts on the children's story (first and foremost, since it is almost ready to be sent off to be rejected).

And then the novel.  I am not sure if it is good.  I will be bringing it with me to the conference.  I am only a couple of chapters in which makes it seem alright to start afresh on something new...if it is deemed unworthy of continuation.

There is another short story, too, that has been calling to me...

I will continue to update my progress as I go.  Welcome to my writing journey!!
